After one of the hottest days of this summer my brother and his wife wanted to go swimming, with the Ocean, 2 River’s and 2 large Lakes to choose from we made the decision of going to Sproat Lake ( the easiest to take the old dog too, not my brother but my blind little dog) lol !
Sproat Lake has a surface area of 37.75 km2, a perimeter of 90.8 km and lies at an elevation of 32 m. The average depth of the lake is 66.5 m, while the deepest spot is 195 m. Located on Central Vancouver Island, Sproat Lake is 10 km west of Port Alberni. The Pacific Rim Highway borders the north shore of the lake.
We arrived about 7:00pm, perfect timing, most having gone home for the day and then there are us smart ones that know we’d have most of the lake to our selves!
Being from Alberta it seems they wear almost all their closes in swimming….I don’t get it?? I guess they are afraid to burn at 7pm in the evening?? Plus they crept in like a couple of snails when I had already tested the water ( it was tepid ) by placing my dog in and letting him swim back to shore! So here is our evening…we also got to see the sun go down over the mountains and the Mars Bomber out of the water on dry dock.
